“While most Valley folk were drinking it up while counting down the hours until 2014 dawned, the members of the Fifth Street creative scene were hanging out at the the ’90s-themed New Year’s Eve Flannel Ball and Art Show at Lawn Gnome Publishing and the 909 Housing Collective. The artsy event offered music from Andy Warpigs, Sister Lip, Wolvves, and others, as well as works by such artists as Sierra Joy, Casebeer, J.J. Horner, Brandon Huigens, and Tara Logsdon.” – Phoenix New Times

2014

Sponsored by New Belgium Brewing, hosted by Phoenix Storyteller Dan Hull, music by Uno Sideburn, Ozark Pappy, Bacchus and the Demonsluts, and Injury Reserve. Artists included Randal Wilson, Robert Zunigha, Morgan McNally, Ken Miller, Tato Caraveo, Casebeer JJ Horner, Tara Logsdon, Buzza Wuzza, Mike Little, Phil McCarty, Niki Noriega, Brandon Huigens, Aaron Hopkins-Johnson, fvneral pizza, David Bessent. It snowed that night. A toast was made with kale champagne.

2015

Lawn Gnome Publishing, Growhouse, and Bud’s Glass Joint organized and sponsored this New Year’s Eve Party with New Belgium Brewing. Hosted by Kevin Patterson. Food Trucks Whitty’s Chicken & Fish, Mein Man, Bang Bang Dumpling joined the fun. Musical acts were Dustin Youso, Andy Warpigs, Psywave and The Deep Down. Art show featured NXOEED, Bay Andersson Maltos, Aleister Kirby, Laurenrae Kelley, Hannah Irene Walsh, Alex Borchardt, Bethany Grace, Michelle Hill, Jesse Sanchez, Mene Tekel, Ray Reeves, and Robert Zunigha.

2016

Events Churchill organized this year’s Flannel Ball with Phoenix New Times and New Belgium Brewing as sponsors! Lawn Games were added to the mix. Hosted by Ernesto Moncada. Musical acts were Man Hands, K Dangerous, Nostrum, Iconic, and Hot House Orchids. The art show was curated by Kharli Mandeville and featured work from Abe Zucca, NXOEED, Janey Munster and more.

2017

Events Churchill returns as the organizer of the event with sponsors Phoenix New Times and New Belgium Brewing. Flannel sold by Cellar Door Vintage. Fortune tellers were a nice addition to the event. Live music from End Credits, Exxxtra Crispy, Snailmate and Carol Pacey and the Honeyshakers. Food trucks included Bang Bang Dumpling, Whitty’s Chicken & Fish, and Mein Man. Art show featured Joe Gonzalez, Buzza Wuzza, Randal Wilson, Phil McCarty, Banding Hendrix, and Willis Day Jr.

2018

Sponsored by New Belgium Brewing, music from The Darts, Snailmate, Dadadoh and the POC, RadDude, Hot House Orchids, DJ Scapegoat. Art show featured NXOEED, Buzza Wuzza, Phil McCarty, Banding Hendrix and Randal Wilson. Food trucks included Early Bird Coffee, Mein Man, Whitty’s Chicken & Fish, and My Home Plate.

2019

Sponsored by Homie.com, beer provided by New Belgium Brewing, Tito’s Handmade Vodka joined the party. Food trucks were Mein Man, Cheese E Wagon, Poffcakes, The Wild Thing, Whitty’s Chicken & Fish, and Freak Brothers Pizza. VIP Dinner provided by Cloth+Flame, music from Third Seven, Paper Foxes, Amigara, Atreetalking, and Dehga.
